Jessica (“Jess”) Ryland advises technology companies in the Bay Area and beyond in the areas of litigation, risk management, insurance, and commercial user agreements.
Prior to joining SSM, Jess worked as in-house counsel at Lyft, Postmates, and Uber advising on risk mitigation (via insurance, third party contracting, and internal protocols), training employees/corporate witnesses, and overseeing outside litigation counsel throughout the United States on matters involving user agreements, catastrophic safety incidents, bad faith/insurance, and product liability.
Born and raised in Virginia, Jess has called San Francisco her adopted home since 2009. She currently lives in the Cole Valley neighborhood with her husband and a fluffy black cat named Douglas.
